I recently did a migration about a month ago, and my website currently has admin activation for user accounts trying to register so we can cut down on spam.
Previously, we had no issues with this. I've ensured that the admins have the properly linked accounts, everything is good there, user groups look good, permissions look good. However, when they get a "activate user" email, when logged in and clicking it they get a "you aren't permitted to view this" as if the module or plugin isn't allowing them access.
Oddly enough, however, if they log into the backend itself and then manually go to the user profile, and manually activate it there, it works, and then they email the user to go "Hey you're all set." Bit of a pain for them since it makes it a slower process.
I've checked all the plugins I can think of and I am at a loss. Currently on Joomla 4.4.2. I've even gone into the SQL Database and make sure the users are mapped correctly in there. Near as I can tell, they're setup all the same. They can all go into the backend to activate, they just can't use the activate link. Uncertain what would have changed between 3 and 4.4.2 after our migration to cause this but I am happy to try anything.
Checking the user log, I can see the admin logging in, and then activating a user on the backend. However, at the time they say "I logged in and clicked on the email" I don't see the activation. It was not until minutes later when they logged into the backend to do it that I see that, which lines up with the timestamp. My guess is, this is a plugin that has a setting I am missing. I checked the documentation but only see the options on "this is how to set it up so admins can activate" but not what module it uses to modify or change this.
